crossroads

you guys are such troopers. each week, you have diligently read on and on (while i droned on and on) in these long dramatic posts. so this week, let’s keep it short and sweet and simple. here’s a quick little song i wrote that i mentioned inthe blog and at church last week. not my best work and nothin’ fancy, but it’s something i’m really feeling these days…

c  r  o  s  s  r  o  a  d s

faded and jaded, a little bit gray

worn from the years and from losing my way

don’t know where i’m going but i know i can’t stay

so i’m finding my way

humbled and broken, my heart’s on the floor

next to my knees. what i am living for

Father, i know that you’ve made me for more

 than i’m living for

CHORUS: and i’m standing at a crossroads

wondering who i will be, will i dare to be free

and i can choose who i follow

the voice of the world or the one that whispers

 has my heart heard?

it’s such a battle and i ain’t won it yet

can’t breathe under this crushing weight of regret

but Father you forgive so i won’t forget

 no i won’t forget

your words and promises, written for me

lettered in red and then nailed to a tree

Jesus, you came to set all captives free

and i want to be free

BRIDGE: and i wish every day was sunday

when it’s easier to believe all this is true

but i’m still waiting for my someday

when i find me by looking to you

 Father, you’re truth

CHORUS: and i’m standing at a crossroads

wondering who i will be, will i dare to be free

and i can choose who i follow

the voice of the world or the one that whispers

 has my heart heard?

 Father, i’ve heard

are you at a “crossroads” in your life?

according to my dictionary, a crossroads (and yes, it is supposed to have an ‘s’ – I had to look it up) is a place where two or more roads intersect or the crucial point where a decision must be made.

is God asking you to make a choice between the old way -the way you’ve always done things,  and the new way – His way?

Maybe this makes me a word-nerd, but I can’t help but wonder if there is any coincidence in the fact that the word CROSS is in the word.  Could it be that the power of the CROSS enables us to choose that right path- that best path – in the most crucial moments of our lives?

The Bible tells us that

For if a man belongs to Christ,

he is a new person.

The old life is gone.  New life has begun.

2 Corinthians 5:17 NLV

I don’t know about you, but when I read that, all i can do is say, “hallelujah!”

Can you figure out how to get your music on the Jesus Gypsy site? I would love to click a button and have your beautiful song to listen to.

Hey Stacy – yes I have Gypsy Soul and Daughter of the King posted on my published page as both of those have been recorded by actual musicians already. But this one hasn’t been recorded yet and since I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, I won’t be posting my own demo anytime soon. 🙂
