good news/bad news/new news

tiny  little tidbit of info that I didn’t share with you last week… That little post I put up last Monday about me twitter-stalking my favorite author -Jen Hatmaker – was kind of a big deal.  I actually got asked to write about her book, Interrupted, and that post was actually an official review of the book and was posted ON HER SITE because I got to be part OF HER LAUNCH and it was WAY TOO FUN.  Super cool, right???? (insert toe-touch here!!!!)

So the good news is, I got to read her book ahead of time, review it, guest blog on her site, and likely have it read by both Jen herself and her publisher.  The bad news?  She still hasn’t called me to go eat that queso. 🙂

BUT it was a huge honor and I had a really good time doing it and I want to thank all of you who shared my blog on facebook and commented last week.  You guys offered some great insight on the concept of the book and I will now be giving a copy away, as promised.  In fact, I am giving 3 copies away (I feel like Oprah!!!)  So congratulations –Angie W, Sara, and Shannon– you ladies are the lucky winners of your own copy of Interrupted.  Please go to my connect page and send me your address and I will get this in the mail to you ASAP.  And thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

I can’t wait for all of you to get a copy (if you didn’t win, you can still order here) and let me know what you think.  That book is ruining me and since misery loves company, I can’t wait to for you to join the party.

In other news, guest blogging and reviewing Interrupted has opened up another opportunity for me as well.  I have just been asked to review and blog about a movie that will be coming out September 26th called The SongThe Song is a music-driven love story about the 2 things we all pursue; love and meaning. Based on the life and writings of Solomon, this powerful film is already impacting marriages and relationships around the country.

Now, I have no great expectations for Christian films these days.  There are a few pretty good ones out there, but I have often found myself feeling a little disappointed in the quality of the storylines and cinematography in these films.  I disclosed this to the media group that asked me to review the film, but they felt pretty confident I would be pleasantly surprised. I am hopeful they are right.

In watching the trailer and doing some initial research, it certainly seems promising.  For one, it is music based, and music is my

thang.  And since the trailer had a little Bible-meets-Nashville-meets-Friday Night Lights vibe, I am definitely diggin’ it so far. The cast is credible as well – the lead actor is Alan Powell (the lead singer of Anthem Lights,) and the 2 main female characters are Ali Faulkner  from “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1”, & Caitlin Nicol-Thomas from a beloved favorite show of mine called “Nashville.”  All 3 of them are adorable and talented, and your eyes will in no way suffer from having looked at any of them for a couple of hours, for sure and certain.

So in the next couple of weeks, I will be watching and reviewing this movie and posting my thoughts here so you can determine if it sounds like something you would like to go see.  In the meantime, here is a sneak peak at the trailer they sent me.

Let me know whatcha think!  I will be checking back soon!

I’m reading Interrupted now! I’m trying to pace myself and soak it all in. Having a hard time putting it down though. It’s already made me address and rewrite my goals. John and I drove through Buda last weekend and tried to find Jen’s house – felt like a stalker. I hope you get your queso soon – you deserve it!

Congrats on the movie gig! God is opening doors for you! I’m so proud of you, to know you and know how much you love our God! Keep up the great work!

Oh my goodness!! Congratulations Christine! The doors are just swinging wide open for you. And I can’t think of anyone who deserves their talents and stirring truths to be recognized and sought after any more than yours. You are a teacher.
