How does hiding enable sin in our lives? How does honesty eradicate it? How does telling the truth invite light into our darkest corners?

I recently explored these questions with my friend Shannon as part of our Summer Book Club on Jesus Over Everything by Lisa Whittle. A couple weeks ago, we had a wonderful Instagram Live discussion about Lisa’s chapter 7, Honesty over Hiding. (If you missed the intro to this book and conversation, check out my post on Part 1: On Truth and Purpose.)

As part of that little chat, we dove into topics like truth, purpose, sin, hiding, shame and suffering. So, you know, real light stuff.😉

We were able to record the discussion and I will be posting selected clips here on the blog and also on IGTV (click here to follow there.) Last week, I posted the clip for Part 1 and hope to finish out the series with thoughts On Shame and Healing next week.

In Part 2 of our discussion,, Shannon and I explore:

  • What is sin? (You might be surprised at the answer.)
  • Why do we hide our sin and ourselves?
  • How does hiding enable sin?
  • How does honesty invite light into our darkest corners?

Here is a short 5 minute clip:

In next week’s post, we will be discussing:

  • Why women (especially) hide their suffering
  • How innocent grief mutates into sinful rage (my personal story)
  • How hiding ignites shame
  • How honesty invites healing

Thanks for taking the time to read and watch. I hope this has been an encouragement to you and would love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to comment here or on the Instagram post and share how you battle the temptation to hide and instead choose to invite light.

Rooting and Praying for Ya,

Christine
