How does hiding ignite shame? How does honesty invite healing?

I recently explored these questions with my friend Shannon as part of our Summer Book Club on Jesus Over Everything by Lisa Whittle. A few weeks ago, we had a great Instagram Live discussion on Lisa’s chapter 7: Honesty over Hiding. (If you missed Part 1: On Truth and Purpose and Part 2: On Sin and Hiding, make sure and check them out also.) We have been diving into topics like truth, purpose, sin, hiding, shame and suffering. So, you know, real light stuff.😉

We recorded the discussion and I have been posting selected clips here on the blog and also on IGTV (click here to follow there.) Today, I will finish out series with some thoughts On Shame and Healing.

In Part 3 of our discussion, Shannon and I explore:

  • Why Christian women (especially) hide their suffering
  • How innocent grief mutates into sinful rage (my personal story)
  • How hiding ignites shame
  • How honesty invites healing

Here is the video clip:

Thanks for taking the time to read and watch. I hope this has been an encouragement to you and would love to hear your thoughts! Feel free to comment here or on the Instagram post and share how you invite healing into your shame and life.

Rooting and Praying for Ya,

Christine
